Everyone gets to read the story
Our commitment
A brand built on storytelling has an obligation to make the story readable. We want 55unbowed.com to work for people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification and reduced-motion settings.
The standard we work to
We design and build against WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is the target for every page, not a stretch goal for some of them.
What is already built in
Every text and background pair in the design system is contrast-tested, not guessed. Primary text sits at 16.6:1 on light and 17.7:1 on dark; even secondary text meets WCAG AAA at 7:1 or better. Gold is used for accents and on dark only, never as text on the off-white where it would fall short. Beyond colour: one main heading per page with no skipped levels, real text alternatives on every image, visible keyboard focus on every control, form fields with proper labels, and a reduced-motion setting that neutralises animation. Fonts are self-hosted, so text renders without waiting on a third party.
Known limitations
Third-party embeds, including payment and any future social feeds, are not fully under our control. Where an embed falls short we will provide an accessible alternative route to the same information.
Telling us something is wrong
If any part of this site blocks you, write to [email protected] describing the page and what happened. We treat access reports as bugs, not feedback, and we will tell you what we are doing about it.
Ongoing work
This statement is reviewed with every collection release and whenever a new page type is added.
